Eligibility: 
Meals on Wheels is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing and delivering balanced nutritional meals to elderly, disabled and homebound adults of Prince Edward County, VA. Client-eligible adults (18 years & over) are unable to shop for food and/or prepare meals for themselves and have no other reliable means of obtaining daily food requirements. They must reside in Prince Edward County, VA and/or within a 20-mile radius of Farmville, VA.

Preparation: 
Meals on Wheels contracts with CENTRA Southside Community Hospital, under the supervision of a registered dietician, to prepare nutritiously balanced hot meals for our Clients. Most customized dietary requirements can be delivered. 

Delivery:
Meals are delivered to the home by Volunteers Monday-Friday, between 11:00am and 1:00pm (the exact time of delivery will vary). All Clients receive hot meals and cold items contained separately in plastic bags. Service is available up to five (5) days per week. 
Meals are NOT delivered on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. An extra meal (to cover the holiday) is delivered on the business day preceding the holiday.

Meal Fee:
Current full cost per meal is $4.75. Meals fees are based on monthly incomes (proof will be requested) as follows:

Each Client or his/her designee receives a monthly invoice for meals received. Meals on Wheels accepts cash, checks or money orders. 

Service Policy:
Length of service is determined according to individual need and is available on a short term (minimum 5 delivery days) or long term basis. Meals on Wheels reserves the right to consult with Clients’ attending physicians regarding Clients’ continuing need for service.
